What Lutherans believe, teach and confess

St. Paul's Lutheran Church is a tradition Trinitarian Christian Church. We are a member
of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of England (ELCE). The ELCE is a confessional
Lutheran Church in England, Scotland and Wales, and a member of the International
Lutheran Council (ILC)
.

We are named St. Paul's after the Apostle Paul and we are named Lutheran after the
16th Century German monk and Church Reformer, Dr. Martin Luther.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of England accepts without reservation all of the
teachings of Holy Scripture, the inspired and infallible Word of God.

To learn the basics of Lutheranism check out www.lutheranism101.com.

Dr Martin Luther’s Small Catechism [click here to download and view in PDF format] is
universally accepted by Lutherans and widely used as a simple summary of the Bible’s
teachings.

The Small Catechism is one of the writings contained in the Book of Concord.
Lutherans commit themselves to these confessional documents because they are a
completely faithful exposition of Holy Scripture. (The Book of Concord may be found
on-line at www.bookofconcord.com.)
